I know, I know...the winter months are upon us. So long, summer. It was fun. Short, but fun. Even though I won’t be able to leave my house without seven layers of clothes until April, the joy of the holiday season is here. We are days away from Halloween, about a month away from the feast of Thanksgiving and only a short 64 days until the joys of Christmas. So, you know what that means...cider season is here!

Even though I’m not a fan of the cold, I love the holiday season. Since I was a kid, I couldn’t wait until the sun rose on November 1, and the mood shifted into the holiday spirit. Nowadays, it’s no different. The smell, the look, the feel of the holiday season is unmatched. As an adult, one of the best parts of the season is the boozy cider options that Chicago brings.

The Northman, Chicago’s largest cider bar, is home to a long list of ciders from around the country. The dimly-lit, European style design adds to the vibe of the bar. In addition to its ciders, The Northman also has spirits and cocktails that mix the two. There are plenty of places around the city that offer great hot ciders, but The Northman’s selection is unmatched. Picture it: You spend a beautiful, crisp night in a beautifully-decorated bar, drinking hot cider and sharing laughs with the people you love. That’s what winters were made for.

So as the temperature continues to drop the deeper we get into winter, just remember the joyous season is upon us. Eat, drink, and be merry.
